Room of Requirement

Today, after only 2 hours of sleep with 9 hours of class to go, I ventured into the wilk trying to find the best place to take a nap. I almost went straight to Memorial Hall...it is veterens day and everything, but I also realized how starving I was. Mint truffles were where its at. So into the bookstore i went. However, I started smelling the most delicious scent in my life and decided to follow the trail. It took me two floors down and into a hallway where the post office is. I turned the corner to find the source of the delicious smell and found a BYU employee only cafeteria. I wanted every part of it. But, seeing as I am forever jobless, I couldn't enter without showing any employee identification. Downhearted and distraught I decided I would go to the restroom to make sure I didnt look like a hot tranny mess. And la te da. Not only did I look amazing, I came across what I am certain was BYU's Room of Requirement. This bathroom came equipped with all the normal facilities, as well as a full-sized bed, with comforter and pillow to boot.

Best hour-long nap of my life.

no such thing as good karma

bad things come in threes

1. monday night rolled around early last week and of course i was looking forward to some great reality television to make my life seem more awesome. hunter had called me to see if i was interested in watching the hills so of course i was down. the only issue was was that no one could figure out what time it was actually going to air. we had it pinned down to about 10 pm when renee told me i should probably ask a more reliable source than just an educated guess. so i turned to my trustiest phone a friend of all: chacha(242242).
i quickly texted the chacha guides(gods) my dilema they answered in lightening fast time with "10 pm mountain standard time. thanks for doing the chacha!" so we were all so excited and ready to watch one of the best shows on tv right now and got to hunters just in time to catch natasha beddingfields part. we were astounded to find that a marathon of Rob & Big was showing (not that i was all that disappointed though...) We watched an episode or two of that and decided to call it a night. So what I am trying to say is that chacha was wrong and ruined my monday night because the hills, as a matter of fact, aired a new episode at 11 pm, which i very well could have enjoyed.

2. lately me and renee have been getting into watching movies. our first triple feature of the year is fast approaching so we have been in training. one of the last ones we watched was...
dont judge me...it ended up being pretty okay.

anyway, the horrible thing that happened was, and the reason as to why i am blogging tonight, is that blockbuster decided to pull a fast one on me and leave the security tag in the dvd we rented and we did not notice until we were home and comfy and about to get our ashton on. renee and i quickly solved the dilema in the best way we knew how...

by ripping it open with our bare(bear) hands. it only took a few minutes to finally force the dvd out of the case but once we were over that hurdle it was smooth sailing. it didn't really hit us until after watching the movie, however, that we would have to take the walk of shame at blockbuster and turn the dvd back in with a destroyed case. may
be this will make blockbuster think twice about leaving the sensors in their rented out dvds.

3. well, after having a nice office season premiere party tonight with renee, b.stone, danny and some marrieds,
renee and i were on our way back to provo from spanish fork and were stopped at a red light. as renee was stopped we started staring at a jonas brother look-a-like in the car to our left. the light turned green but we were obviously too distracted to react to the light-change in a timely fashion. as renee was finally about to proceed forward, we were hit by a mad mom in a minivan. we quickly turned into the nearest parking lot (which conveniently was a blockbuster) to check the damage but had already assumed nothing would look different on her car. nothing did, and renee was able to give the mom person the best news she could have heard--to not worry about it and have a great night.

heres to hoping that something good comes our way soon.

ali can't parasail on her own

a notso brief summer recap:

1. knotts as a family on 4th of july (my newest favorite tradition of the hansfields)
god bless americayou should see the polaroid version
only amber new about this gem of a ride, it had my mom chanting for just ONE MORE TIME, ONE MORE TIME.

2. happy 3 or 4 or 5 month anniversary dalison, im glad youve made it this far.one of the most disappointing meals ive had.

3. tinas fake 21st birthday celebration one month earlywe started off the day by driving down to carlsbad, ca. home of the best souplantation the three of us have ever been to..and we have dabbled in our fair share of them. we stuff ourselves but still found room to enjoy extraordinary desserts just a stones throw away in downtown san diego.

then we headed to an early (but actually very late in the evening) birthday dinnerwe celebrated by enjoying a night of food and fun at Chomp in Fullerton. We were forced into having the birthday dinner a month early because lisa is TC and left us for Madrid (I'm only slightly bitter and depressed...[but tina is soon to leave the country as well...get ready for sappy blogs]).

4. all aboard the catalina express
tyler made sure we were the first to board the ship to insure that we would have the best seats in the house
this is either david and ali or tyler and me, its too far to tell but i didnt want to bore you by putting two nearly identical pictures up. since ali weighs under 130 she couldnt parasail on her own even if she wanted to. everyone else, including a 10 year old boy were able to make that choice for ourselves and not let our weight decide for us. however, that 10 year old part might not necessarily be something to brag about...this shot is for your enjoyment ali. thanks for taking it. then the trip started to feel a little like this and we left 3 hours ahead of schedule. making it short and sweet.

4.5 ali turns 21...again

this is numbered 4.5 because it happened the same day as catalina but was an entirely different event. we decided to enjoy a descent dinner at the fish company in los alamitos with everyone for david jr and big al's birthdays. david hit the quarter century and upon this discovery tyler loved to point out that i am half way to forty, david is halfway to fifty and my mom is halfway to one hundred. i wish that the dinner was cowboys and indians themed...oh well, theres always next year when ali finally becomes legal...again.

Shark Week.

Extraordinary Desserts

The latest culinary obsession my family has been going through (RIP claim jumper and denni's chicken) is the fine dining found in san diego, california. The restaurant im sure has great lunch and dinner entrees along with their stunning limeade but i have yet to think about ordering other than dessert items when i have a chance to go. the restaurant is located in the square mile of little italy in downtown. each day individual flavors of ice cream are made to compliment the unique desserts that are created. collectively with my family i think i have sampled 15 different choices and i have not yet come across anything that didnt blow me away. my favorite dessert to order is still the sundae or the dark hot chocolate.

this friday for tina's faux 21st birthday i will be going again.

Drug Wars and Border Kidnappings

So last weekend to celebrate the 24th and 20th birthdays of david ii and i, respectively, my family and i decided we would all brave going to mexico for the first time. however, with the recent influx of criminal activity my moms got cold feet and decided we could only go as far as downtown san diego. ambie bear did not make it on the trip--she had a physics boat to build and she was definitely missed. (also missing was david i and laura...they were too pregnant to come).

the first day in san diego david ii, ali bear and i all went to see adam sandlers new flick. although i wasnt thoroughly impressed, i wasnt too disappointed either. after the movie got out ali and i decided we needed pedicures badly...david ii also did. so we stopped by the local nail spa and got pampered with a number 30 for a while. after this ali and i had to jog back to meet up with my mom and tyler who were waiting for us outside of nordstrom (store #361) so that we could all get a quick bite to eat. tyler took this as an invitation to try just about everything available. he sampled the french fries and ranch, enjoyed chicken strips from steak escape and topped it off with a wetzels pretzel. my mom and i decided tempura sounded delish so i waited the 40 minutes in line and got more than i bargained for.

after all of this we all decided that we needed to wash down our food with some shakes from ben & jerrys. tyler opted for a double scoop in a waffle cone.
after this we headed to the sports store so that tyler could pick out his souvineer for the trip. not only did he not pick out anything that remotely showed that he went to san diego, but he picked out something he already had...he decided a second fitted Giants hat would be the perfect gift.
i dont really recall anything else we did other than eat at Ruths Chris and go on some tours of beautiful downtown.
on our way home we did stop by extraordinary desserts for a sweet treat. the limeade was very interesting and their dark hot chocolate was delish. tyler enjoyed a chocolate chip cookie and a gourmet scoop of ice cream. my mom, david ii, and ali bear all ordered desserts that i cannot spell.

Andie Hanseh

after my last stint on the job market ended i decided that my next job needed to be just a touch classier. So i called up my old friends at Nordstrom and got rehired for the summer. i currently work in the Brass Plum department and am making the world a trendier place with each scrapbook hoodie, 10 dollar colored fake ray-bans, peace sign printed scarf and brightly colored mini dress sold. feel free to stop by and hang out with me. my lunch break is usually from 5pm to 6pm and i can be found sitting outside of the nordstrom cafe eating a berry bowl and roasted vegetables.

jack black's dead red rootbeer

so of course i would have blogged about my trip to the grand canyon state (which i saw none of) but our lovely hosts for that weekend decided to surprise the hansen household with a long weekend visit...ill explain that later. first things first, i will describe the 24 hours i spent in arizona.

after my little brother tylers baseball game on saturday morning ended, he hopped in a quick shower while mama hansen, ambie bear and i gathered our pillows and pajamas and water bottles and got in the suburban. when tyler was clean enough he grabbed his gameboys and off we were. the 91 to the 15 to the 10. ambie was asleep for most of the drive i think and tyler was in and out of dozzing off and playing mario cart on his red version DS. i was the designated driver and also the dj while my mom caught up on romance novels with fabio on the cover. we listened to America's, Chicago's, Bob Dylan's, Buddy Holly's, Queen's, Elvis', Ray Charles', Louis Armstrong's, and Bob Seger's Greatest Hits. I had the time of my life. I dont know if anyone else appreciated the music. Anyways, once were about 50 minutes into the drive we didnt see any sign of civilization until the beautiful town of Blythe. There we stopped for a delicious McDonalds treat and some gas station goodies. Three take five's later we exited mcdowell and headed toward Ali and David II's humble abode. Once we opened the car doors i knew i was in for quite a weekend. The scorching triple digit heat put me in a strange mood. Upon entering the newlyweds apartment i was blown away at how cool/mod/indie/creative their living quarters were. The only thing missing was an 8x10 of me hanging above their fireplace. But im sure it wont be long until that problem is fixed since i did give them a kick A frame that would look so perf. A bonzai tree, skinny tie, anthopologie owl salt and pepper shakers and some magazine coasters were among the other house warming gifts that i brought the couple. Not to mention the imported chocolates from guatamala. From their apartment we headed straight to Pop, The Soda Shop. You may have heard of it. It carries vintage sodas and other beverages to quench anyones thirst. Currently I have five sodas mocking me from my dresser but not until june first will i be able to taste their greatness. The soda shop was the highlight of my trip to scottsdale, arizona. After this we headed to Benihanas to fulfill everyones hopes and dreams. It was the best mother's day meal right next to souplanation brunch. After Benihana's we went to the local theatre to see Made of Honor or Iron Man. The boys had some bonding time in Iron Man (5/5 stars) and loved it while the hansen girls went to see Patrick Dempsey (im sorry i didnt wait for the matinee). Also, i was able to visit both anthropologies and get some nifty gifties. I now have a deliciously soft and comfy robe that i wear whenever i am at home. After the movie it was off to the Gelato Spot for a cold treat. I sampled the chocolate fudge brownie gelato which was delish but not as good as a DQ blizzard. David II got a pistachio shake which looked mcnasty. i dont remember anyone else's orders. sorry. So after gelato we decided it was bed time so we dropped of the marrieds and headed back to scottsdale road to go to the marriot (of course). the room we stayed in had an awesome bed that came down from the wall. The shower was also awesome because they soap the supplied moistened, cleansed and smelled wonderful. i didnt see much else of the room because i went straight to bed. In the morning we woke up a little after planned and got dressed quickly to pick up ali and david to try to make it to souplantations mother day brunch in time. We made it with time to spare around 11 am. It was perfect timing because i was able to sample the breakfast options (i recommend the french toast) and enjoy my usual salad and soup with a brownie muffin. After souplanation, or should i say sweet tomato, we went to target so that tyler could charge his DS for the drive home and i raided every place i could for packages of polaroids. Then we went back to the apartment and watched a few episodes of the office and made some origami out of money. We then decided to try to redeem our prize at CPK with some refreshing salads and water. We only won 10 percent off instead of the 25K prize. Too bad. Around this time my memory gets a little fuzzy and i think we just dropped off ali and david and then headed back home. I drove for a while and then my mom graciously offered her driving services and i selfishly took her up on them. All in all, i had a wonderful time in scottsdale and cant wait to go back.

Water May

with the first of every month comes a lot of other firsts. i was introduced to the idea of water may by my friend adam and through his friend manny. during the month of may water and only water can be drank. it doesnt seem like a huge challenge but im going to go for it and let you know how it goes.

in the time that ive been home ive gotten at least 3 phone calls a day from grandma bucky who keeps asking for little favors. like spending 4 hours taking her to a doctors appointment, spending another couple going back to the kaiser officers to reapply for a handicap sign for her car and the occasional 911 call for some carls jr. now all this time spent with my grandma hasnt been horrible, ive been making bank doing it. she likes to slip jacksons into my purse and is always complimenting me backhandedly. i should be hearing from her in a few hours because she has yet to remind me today that her car needs a smog check.

my living situation in my house has also brought me a first. this is my first time living downstairs. im not sure if i like it or not yet. the room im living in has absolutely no curtains or shutters so everytime i go to sleep i imagine some creep coming in and stabbing me or kidnapping me. i also kind of miss not having my own bathroom but i definitely do not miss the 10 minute walk to my room.

more to come,
andie

p.s. want to come to souplantation with me?

my apologies

dear world wide web readers,

my sincerest apologies for taking so long to tell you about my job. after a series of escalating dares, i applied and got a job at the wynsong movie theatres in the riverwoods in orem, utah. not my most glamorous moment, but lets get real. im not very glamorous. so all in all i spent a couple of hours making popcorn and dispensing sodas for people who didnt deserve the calories. ive got to give it to wynsong though for offering free refills of popcorn and soda if you get the larges. provo towne does not.

one of the best things that happened was i got tipped. thats right ladies and gentlemen tipping is totally legal at movie theatres so be nice and tip away. the crustiest old man came in, wanted 3 orders of nachos (thats 6.10 for each) 4 medium cokes with a splash of pibb xtra, 2 twizzlers, 3 milk duds, 2 large popcorns and 1 hot dog. now we dont actually offer hot dogs so i thought he would get t.o.-ed at me. but because of my sweet smile and sexy looks he didnt seem to mind and offered me to date his son. he also gave me 13 dollars which almost tripled my hourly pay of 5.85.

coworkers: always funny. the first night i worked which was a busy friday night-the opening of the smash box office hit Prom Night with Brittany Snow. Laska was the other lovely lady working with me and consequently became my trainer. mr. rylan chord failed to tell me anything about the job he gave me but definitely got his flirt on to make up for failing to do his job. well anyways, laska made it very clear that her name is not Alaska but simply Laska. I accidently slipped and made the uh sound, never again will i do that. Laska is working the movie theatre circuit. She not only has her foot in the door, but her whole entire body. She is the shift leader at Scera theatres on state street which currently is playing Emma Smith: My Story. She gave it rave reviews.

The second best thing that happen after getting tipped was getting to take home a bag of popcorn. now i know that might not sound exactly impressive but just you wait. this wasnt just any ordinary sized bag. This was comparable to a king sized love sac bag filled with popcorn. in fact, rebecca bush (sister to my current roomate renee) nearly sat on it thinking it was a love sac. my coworkers assured me that this bag would stay fresh for 2 weeks and this popcorn was all i ate for 5 days straight. after those five days i was so sick of the smell of popcorn i had to walk it straight to the trash.

i have no regrets. this is going to look awesome on my resume.

Want to make that a large with free refills tonight?,

Andie

huge mcweiner

tonight it became clear that absolutely no one within a 3 mile radius of my bedroom can handle me, the me i really am. on the dance floor anyway. as lisa w. and i proceeded to point to the window and then to the wall, while leanin' back and getting low low low low low low low...we drove away everyone in the room. i dont think any of them understood that i was being a complete joke, the best punchline that they just werent getting.

and, i think i am kind of proud of that.okay but seriously, how did you miss the joke part of all of this?

island girl

I guess this post is a reference to my family ditching me and going to hawaii. I guess its also a reference to elton johns very moving song which is also a reference to tap dancing.....okay so it happened one time. I accidentally tap danced for danny karpinski and Lisa in jon cuthberts room to elton johns song crocodile rock. They witness part of me that the world had not seen since my kindorf kids years. But ever since that night I've had dance fever. So this semester I decided to bite the bullet, buy some tap shoes that fit me and registered for beginning tap 101. This was the best decision I've made all year. I wish i had a picture to upload from my glory days but i dont right now, but just you wait. As soon as i get home and into the pool room ill be uploading for all of you to see me in "At The Codfish Ball." I guess this can be a time for you to prepare yourself to see it.

back to the main reason for this posting, tonight my friend from tap, Fergie (Lisa Ferguson), came over tonight to watch the hills and practice for our final. we have two performances to do for the final, the first to the lovely rendition of "Timeless to Me" by John Travolta and Christopher Walken which is a really jazzy number where we were told by Chantee to channel Frank Sinatra and Grace Kelly so that we stay light on our toes. The second is to "Lose Control" by Missy Eliot ft. Ciara and Fat Man Scoop. When i perform the second dance i feel like i should be on Step Up 3, bringing tap to the streets...where it belongs.

p.s. if you would like to see me or fergie perform these dances you can find us in room 158 of the RB tuesdays and thursdays from 4:00-4:50.

march madness

im sorry if my last post seemed harsh, but thats how things go on the internet. i mean sure i could go back and delete the last one, but whats done is done. this weekend my favorite little sister is going to be in utah and i couldnt be more excited. wait, thats a lie, i could definitely be more excited. ali bear and david II wont be there, and neither with david I and laura +1. but its okay amber is enough to keep me going. its too bad she didnt arrive yesterday for the daniel johnston concert...

amber rose hansen (aka rose queen aka RQ aka RQD2 aka ambie aka ambie bear) is seventeen, sexy and single. she works the corners of cypress, ca with her two besties amelia (younger sister to recent spotlighter maddison) and lauren. i'm pretty certain she has multiple personality disorder but she makes up for it in interesting taste in music, books and movies. she will be the first to tell you that you look like a hot tranny mess.

ambie bear is also blogging now, watch out world. her first blog was done against her will, and you know what amber-im going to do something else you might not like...

in honor of march madness (although it recently ended), a poem by amber hansen

Did you just challenge me to a game of bball?
Psh, if youre lucky ill go easy on yall
Cuz I got moves that cant be duplicated
And your sorry moves are overrated
Whats that youre wearing an old t-shirt?
My fly treads make yours look like dirt
My kicks on fi-ah
You supposed to look cool didnt you get the fly-ah
Now I aint all talk and no game
So lets get this over with, ill put you to shame
The whistle blows
The ref says go!
I dribble down the court
With moves of all sort
Its not everyday you see this
Basket after basket, assist after assist
You standing there in unbelief
Im grounding you just like beef
Its a tight game, your better then I thought
But whats that? I just made another 3 point shot
So that ties it all up
But I came here to win the golden cup
Im not gonna let you go that easy
My games starting to make you feel queasy
So you call a time out and take a sip of your juice
For me its Gatorade, you look tense, just let loose
Game on I shout from my side of the court
And we know I cant lose with everyones support
I’m on a roll, Im in the zone
The crowds faces are melted, and minds are blown
I may be 5'7'' but I got mad hops
Yeah I just stole the ball but dont call the cops
You be acting like this game is rigged
But baby, Im the real gig
Look its your ball now so take a chill pill
I'll get it back so fast it be making you ill
There it is this is the one
The victory is mine, it was fun
Ill walk off the court with a big fat smile
And I guarantee you wont be back for a while

anyways, i cant keep my history of creativity project waiting any longer...

must be nice...

...to have a spring break. but thank you to maddison ek for gracing provo with her presence and living on my floor for a few days.

(maddison ek is an 18 year old vegetarian currently residing in cypress, california attending LBCC and looking to get into berkeley. she wears her hair short and her dresses even shorter, likes to bake cupcakes and knows how to bring it in handball. she is a taurus)

while she was here i made sure to show her a good provo time starting off by attending a class or two, then taking her to see snow for the first time by getting foot passes at sundance. of course we ate at provo's finest dining spots including but not limited to cafe rio, kneaders and pizzeria 712.

on a side note, pizzaria 712 is not good. in no way does it compare to my precious deli news in lbc. i give them points for not bothering me every five seconds and bombarding me when questions. the pizza may have seemed fancy and delish, but it lost all its cred in first bite. so sorry to all those indie loves of 712, you have no taste in pizza.

congratulations, because you made it

nearly one week, and still a blogger. if thats not an accomplishment in itself i dont know what is.

next up--learn how to link ali and david II. also, congratulations on your 2 week and 2 day anniversary. you should go out somewhere special. like del taco or the rio. maybe even get some delish chocolate treats from chocolat boutique...

not good enough for the internet

after reading blogs galore, i realized i wouldn't be able to properly fill out an internet survey of all the really cool and interesting facts about myself that i'm sure you are dying to know. i can't list 5 places i've lived or 5 jobs i've had. both only would reach number two.

PRIORITY NUMBER 1--get a job.
